Me, Katie Chase:

Professionally:
I am a Youth Services Librarian at Mercer County Library in Hopewell, NJ. Although I seek to follow library policies here, this blog reflects my personal opinions and is not a reflection of MCL’s official views.
This is my first job as a public librarian. Although I got my MLS in 2005, my professional background is in archives and special collections. This is also my first job since moving to New Jersey, and my first permanent job since having my kids in 2009.
Personally:
I was born in Providence, RI in the 70s and lived there until I was six. Then I lived in Baltimore until graduating from high school, as a proud 13-year-girl from the Bryn Mawr School. I returned to my homeland to attend Brown University and then moved to Cambridge, MA. I married my college sweetheart in Providence in 2001. We moved the family to Princeton, NJ in 2010.
Also:
- I read passionately and have ever since getting a “late” start at reading at the age of seven.
- My preferred genres: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Women’s Fiction, Mainstream Fiction, Romance, Young Adult, Middle Grade
- I am also a passionate maker. My favorite crafts include: quilting, knitting, crochet, weaving, embroidery, kids’ crafts, and drawing
- I’ve managed Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD since the age of five or six. This fact affects every aspect of my life.
- I have elementary-age twins, a boy and a girl, both of whom are brilliant and beautiful, and both of whom also have ADHD and Anxiety.
- Managing family life and marriage when all of us face emotional challenges is always, always a work in progress. If you have the answer, let me know.
This Site
This is where I write about reading, libraries, and my professional life. I keep an even more sporadic blog at thetruegoldennotebook.wordpress.com. It’s all very embarrassing.
The main image on this blog is from vintage postcard of the Providence Athenaeum, which I’ve borrowed from their website. The Athenaeum was my first library and a very special place.
